Terms of Endearment (aka Pet Names)

Have you asked yourself if the term of endearment that your mate calls you has been used before by them?

We all have hundreds of Terms of Endearment, including ones we get at home, at the office, and from school friends as well as the ones that your love interest gives you. After that, your real name will only surface on job interviews and raffle tickets.

You could not pick your name, and neither can you pick your Terms of Endearment.. they are like gum on a shoe, the more you try to take it off the more it sticks.

Love birds are a pink factory when it comes to repulsive names. You know they are in love when you hear them talking to each other in jibberish and when the birth name has been replaced with something sweeter than a flan. Do you remember Thurston Howell III from Gilligan’s Island? He used to call his wife “Lovee”, and Dante called Beatriz, “The Owner of My Thoughts.” Nowadays, though, this has changed. Lovers are happy with “Scar face.” Maybe they think this is just as romantic.

I think I will divide them in groups

Animal Kingdom
if your partner thinks you are as soft as a stuffed toy, they may call you teddy, kitty, pussy cat, chimp, or Koala, just to name a few.

Food Group
Bon Bon , Kitty Kat, Hot Doggy, Hammy, just because they love you so much that they want to eat you alive. . ( Please don’t call me Snickers)

Then the foreigners
Mon cherie, bella, Cara Mia, their love is so big that it can not be expressed in only one language.

Royalty
My Queen, My king, Prince, Princess, Duke and even My Lady

Bodies
These are the ones that turn an insult into something beautiful..
Stick, Chunky, BBW, is just a trick to make them sound loving, other wise you will be on a strict diet for weeks.

Then there is the term of endearment that says something unique, and with some ambiguity, if I may say. This will then become something that only the two of you can share. Sickel Pickle, Fancy Gordi, Big Lots. Terms like these will make anyone think –
What is that?

Terms of endearment are your stage names even if we are not singers or movie stars. Some of them we may love, some we may hate, but the truth is that they always say something about you.

What do you think?
